A dying man. An old betrayal. A divided will. When Addison Cole returns home for an inheritance, she uncovers a whole lot more than a history of loss and pain.

When Addison Cole learns the harsh grandfather who raised her is dying, she leaves city life and returns to her small Texas hometown. Bitter and guarded, she must confront the memories of her childhood pain—and finds out she may have made some wrong assumptions.

To sell her Pop’s house, she’ll have to rely on the best realtor in town, Kaylee Ann Parker—her former best friend who betrayed her in high school. And Pop’s like-a-son foreman, Luke Sánchez, won’t leave her alone—not when his future hinges on Addison’s decision about the ranch. Unwilling to relent, Addison pushes everyone who knows her into separate corners, except her interceding, no-nonsense neighbor, Rosa Hernández, who delivers life and truth to Addison as only Mimi once could.

Addison’s heart softens when, while cleaning out her grandparents’ attic, she finds Mimi’s journals—hundreds of pages, filled with prayers for her and Pop. After opening her heart to those hometown friends who have always loved her, Addison’s empty life finds meaning again. But when Pop’s house sells before Addison is ready to let go, Addison faces an important choice: continue in her bitterness and anger or choose forgiveness and freedom.
