About Me

About Me

As an English professor and a moonlighting contemporary fiction author, I’m passionate about writing in all genres—something I feel is a calling from God on my life. My husband and I are college sweethearts and have been married since 2008. In 2019, God gave us the miracle baby girl we'd spent almost a decade praying for, and we have an 80-pound  Weimarenar who keeps us entertained. When possible, I devour books in a variety of genres, am an avid football fan, and enjoy hiking and camping with my family. Howell and I love our church family. Together, we have hosted numerous life groups and have served on various teams including hospitality and prayer.

Those are some quick facts. But I told you I had a story to tell, right?

Truth is, I’ve got lots of them.

As I was completing graduate school, God nudged my heart that it was time to get serious about the stories in my head and written on my heart. Since then, I have devoted my time to learning as much as I can about my craft and about the publishing world. I have attended writer's conferences and subjected my work to various opportunities for criticism and feedback.

I aspire to write about life events that are real and relatable. Life is not always pretty, but God is always good. I have experienced the pain of loss and the heartache of unexpected outcomes. I know what anger and bitterness and unforgiveness look like. But I have found freedom in Christ, and I hope, through the power of story, my readers can encounter the grace and the power of Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

My first novel, Restless Heart, won first place in the 2016 Ignite the Flame contest for the Inspirational Genre, and semi-finaled in the 2017 ACFW Genesis contest. My second novel, Harvesting Love, was a finalist in the ACFW First Impressions contest (2017) and a winner in the short novel category for ACFW Genesis (2018). My latest manuscript, Knowing You, is currently under review.

Because I spent almost a decade journeying through infertility, I love praying for and encouraging women with this specific struggle. If that's you, I hope you'll check out my free e-book devotional, The Not-Forgotten-Ones
